Nature highlights

Towns and villages
Brunico, San Candido, Bressanone, Vipiteno, Bolzano, Merano and Lienz are ideal for shopping. There are also many markets in the region. Customs and traditions can be experienced during the processions and Christian festivals in the villages. The fairs on the meadows, the Standlschmaus food fair and the street kitchens also have their own flair.

Castles and museums
After a glorious career as a mountaineer Reinhold Messner began to devote his energy to the development of a series of museums on the topic of the mountains: on Brunico Castle, on Plan de Corones and at Cortina three museums await your visit. A further three are found at Bolzano and in Val Venosta. Tures Castle excites with a beautiful castle, frescoes and an impressive armoury. With its mining world and a climate tunnel Predoi offers two highlights in Valle Aurina. In the Bolzano Archaeology museum you can admire Ötzi the ice mummy; the gardens at Trauttmansdorff Castle near Merano are all about plants and flowers. Customs and cultures can be discovered in the ethnological museum in Teodone and in the Museum ladin 'Ciastel de Tor' near San Martin.
